LifeArt Fertility Clinic

LifeArt Fertility Clinic is the first in South Africa to offer affordable fertility treatment.

Our Objective

It is our objective to make in vitro fertilization (IVF) possible for the majority of couples who so desperately need this fertility treatment but are unable to afford it.

This is how LifeArt Fertility Clinic makes it possible…

LifeArt Fertility Clinic has partnered with several players in the medical industry to lower the costs involved in the IVF process. We make use of economies of scale and with the sharing of resources. So that we are able to offer a complete IVF cycle with ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) at R38,000. Thus this makes fertility treatment more affordable to many more couples who desire to have a baby.

Several well conducted studies have proved that Low Cost IVF is both possible and feasible. Bodri et al conducted a study at the Yume clinic in Japan from 2008 to 2011. This study enrolled 727 patients, in what they called “mild IVF”. They showed an impressive crude cumulative live birth rate of 65%, 60% and 39% in women aged 26 to 34, 35 to 37 and 38 to 40 years, respectively.

Another study which deserves mention is that by Zhang et al carried out in New York from 2009 to 2013. Five hundred and sixty four women were randomized to either “mini-IVF” or conventional IVF. The cumulative live birth rates were 49% for the mini-IVF arm versus 63% for the conventional IVF.

Devroey et al conducted a Study in Italy from 2009 to 2013 enrolling 192 couples in what they called “Lite IVF”. They showed a cumulative delivery rate with fresh and frozen embryo transfers of 70%. With a mean time to pregnancy being just 2.4 months. As can be seen “Low Cost”, “Mini-IVF” or  “Lite IVF” is by no means inferior. Provided it is used in the correct environment.
